at the start of the article I thought I would leave a comment asking your opinion on leftovers but you handedly covered that in the second half. now I’m just leaving a comment so that it is known that I had a question and that you already answered it

This is amazing. Please do more posts to make me feel superior for not doing things I dont' want to do.

that's more or less my whole thing I am *so* good at doing nothing and not wanting to do anything, so you're in the right place!

By the way, I like the fact that you capitalize “A” in the titles to your posts. It’s the way it should be done, all phony style guides to the contrary.

i decided very early on that every word in my carefully curated titles is important enough for its own capitalization, so i appreciate you taking notice of their craftsmanship 🫡

There is also something depressing about spending 3 hours in the kitchen creating what amounts to ingredients for the world's saddest suppers. You could have just made a lasagna.

lol I don't know exactly what it was about your phrasing here but that genuinely made me chuckle at the thought... like, yeah, congratulations! you spent your entire Sunday evening pouring over asparagus that is going to make your microwave smell like death in three days

Exactly! Ultimately Big Meal Prep understands that we value novelty over quality. That mix n’ match mushy vegetables unlock some level of newness we value over quality meals that bear repeating. It’s the TJ Maxx of meal planning.

"it's the TJ Maxx of meal planning" oooofff... Big Meal Prep should be shaking in their gently-stained tupperware at that scathing burn

mmm i'm reading this with four tupperware of cous cous in my fridge for the week ahead.

here's the thing:

- London wants me to spend at least £6 a day on my lunch. every time i do it is delicious but also painful.

- the soggy broccoli from Cous Cous, Day 4 is real.

Maybe I need to revert to my inner 10-year-old and go back to the Sandwich & Fruit days of yore.

i am so sympathetic that spending money is vile, The Worst, painful, etc., but slap a fresh bit of peanut butter & your favorite jelly on some bread in the morning and tell me that it isn't more evocative than the cous cous you're going to have on thursday

My meal prepping only goes as far as cooking enough for two days at a time, and then eating too much on the first day so the leftovers are barely enough for a midnight snack. Chicken and rice for five days? I feel green at the thought.

But yeah. That lingering sense of inadequacy. The persistent worry that I’m not a fully functioning adult if I don’t know what I’m eating a week ahead of time. It’s all there. And now I know who to blame. Who’s been pulling my anxiety strings all along. It’s Big Tupperware. Let’s bring those MFs down!

cooking enough for two days and then overeating to the point where you barely have a snack for “meal two” is so viscerally accurate omg we must stop Big Tupperware

To be fair, I think that particular issue is more down to my own gluttony than anything to do with BT. Or is that what they WANT me to think?! Holy crap. Am I in that deep and didn’t even know it? Katie, you’re blowing my mind, man.

Working 3 jobs for 30K? You can make that working an 8 hour shift at McDonalds and have access to a whole variety of crap in containers.

reminiscent of the treehouse of horror episode where Lisa creates a new species in her tub of mold... for the safety of humanity we cannot keep meal prepping

I tend to follow that approach for a different reason. I’m too indecisive to switch back and forth between caps and non-caps, so I just make everything caps.

Yeah, I’ve done the meal prep, and yeah I’ve never made it to Friday with that shit.

i agree with everything you’ve said. am curious if you have any thoughts about the fact that i pre-chop all my vegetables when i get groceries so that i can just throw them in a pan to sauté for lunch. does this count as meal prepping ?

this is allowed bc you haven’t pre-cooked the vegetables... they maintain their original integrity 🫡

Your tag line says you have a lot of thoughts. My suggestion- keep them to yourself, given how juvenile and narcissistic your thoughts are on meal prepping
